Firm welcomes counsel Raymond Ashurov, who is experienced in regulatory compliance
Dentons Canada LLP has announced the appointments of Martin Abadi, a partner in the firm’s regulatory and transportation groups, and Raymond Ashurov, counsel in its regulatory group, both based in the Toronto office.
In the firm’s news release, Blair McCreadie, Toronto managing partner, welcomed Abadi and Ashurov, who have both joined from Borden Ladner Gervais LLP (BLG).

Dentons noted that Abadi has represented domestic and international clients within Canada’s transport and mobility sector in regulatory, transactional, and dispute resolution matters. His work has covered:

McCreadie added that Abadi can practise across multi-disciplinary areas and offer “practical and insightful regulatory, advisory and transactional client solutions.”

Dentons explained that Ashurov has experience in transportation, logistics, and related sectors, particularly in regulatory matters involving compliance, import/export, customs, motor vehicle safety recalls, licensing, and transporting dangerous goods.
McCreadie noted that Ashurov has a “strong regulatory and litigation background.”
Before joining Dentons, Abadi was a partner at BLG. Lexpert has ranked him as repeatedly recommended in the area of road and rail transportation and included him in its 2025 special edition on Canada’s leading infrastructure lawyers.
According to his biography on Dentons’ website, at the International Bar Association, he has chaired the supply chain and logistics subcommittee and served as special projects officer.
Abadi has been a member of the American Bar Association, the Defence Research Institute, the Transport Lawyers Association, and the Canadian Board of Marine Underwriters.
Per his firm bio, he joined the Ontario bar in 2007. He obtained his LLB from the University of British Columbia, his MBA and MA from McGill University, and his BA from Brandeis University.
According to his LinkedIn page, Ashurov worked as a senior associate at BLG from August 2022 to January 2026 and as an associate at Bell Temple LLP from September 2020 to August 2022.
Per his biography on the firm’s website, he has been a member of the Law Society of Ontario, the Ontario Bar Association, and the Toronto Trial Lawyers Association.
Ashurov joined the Ontario bar in 2017. He earned his JD from the University of Windsor in 2016. From the University of Toronto, he received his MA in international relations in 2010 and his BA (honours) in political science and history in 2008.
