Richard Halpern joins Gluckstein
Richard Halpern has been named counsel to the medical malpractice group at Gluckstein.

Richard Halpern, formerly of Thomson Rogers, has joined Gluckstein Lawyers as counsel to the firm’s medical malpractice group. Halpern joins the team as a senior lawyer, acting exclusively in medical negligence cases with a special focus on birth injuries suffered by infants.

Halpern, who has practiced for over 30 years, has specialized in complex medical malpractice cases around catastrophic birth injury. He has lectured and written widely on matters concerning obstetrics, newborn injury causes, and legal and trial strategies in medical malpractice cases.

Halpern was a 2015 recipient of the Award for Distinguished Service to the legal profession conferred by the Ontario Bar Association.

Halpern is a founding member of the Birth Injury Lawyers’ Alliance and a past president of the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association. He is currently a member of The Holland Group, which promotes reforms to medical malpractice cases in the hopes of increasing access to justice in that practice area.

“Richard’s extensive knowledge, passion and reputation in medical malpractice cases fits ideally with our focus on the highest standards of advocacy promoted at Gluckstein Lawyers,” the press release announcing Halpern’s recent move reads. “With Richard as a key member of our team, Gluckstein Lawyers will continue to provide the representation each client needs in these complex and challenging cases.”
