She focuses on data protection issues, cybersecurity and intermediary liability matters
Aird & Berlis LLP has added Lipi Mishra to the partnership of its litigation and dispute resolution group in Toronto.
She has tackled disputes and risk-management issues, particularly data protection issues, cybersecurity and intermediary liability matters. She has also handled commercial disputes and crisis-management matters like securities litigation, regulatory enforcement proceedings, internal investigations and class action defence.
Mishra has advised on shareholder disputes, corporate governance issues and oppression claims as well. She has appeared before all levels of court in Ontario, acting for clients in the technology, financial services and pharmaceuticals sectors.
Before making the jump to Aird & Berlis, she was a litigation associate with Osler, Hoskin and Harcourt LLP, where she commenced as a summer student according to LinkedIn. She was also a Girls E-Mentorship mentor from 2017 to 2021.
Mishra sits on the boards of the South Asian Bar Association of Toronto and the Canadian Civil Liberties Association as well as on Practical Law: Corporate and Commercial Litigation’s advisory board. She is a member of the Ontario Bar Association, the Canadian Bar Association, the Law Society of Ontario, The Advocates' Society, and the Group of Racialized (Ontario) Women Litigators. She has volunteered at Pro Bono Ontario’s legal advice hotline and as duty counsel.
In June, she moderated the “Faith, Work & Human Rights: Religious Accommodation in the Modern Workplace” discussion at the South Asian Bar Association of North America Annual Conference in San Diego. She also spoke at the Medico-Legal Society Annual Dinner on the topic “Judicial Review of a Hospital Decision to Cancel an OR Service” in September 2024 and talked about “Modern Anti-Slavery Requirements for Businesses: Understanding Risks and Requirements on Both Sides of the Border and Beyond” at the South Asian Bar Association North America Annual Conference in July 2024.
Mishra received her BCL/LLB from McGill University in 2015. She also holds a MSc in epidemiology and a BHSc (Hons.) in global health.
She is fluent in Hindi and English.
