Miller Thomson has revealed that Enzo Di Iorio will be its new chair as of July 1.
Di Iorio succeeds Peter Auvinen in the role. He previously led the firm's office in Vaughan, Ontario and was on the executive committee from 2019 to 2021.
"My mission is clear: to propel Miller Thomson to new heights. We are strategically positioned to lead in a market where clients expect us to manage risk, provide solutions that drive growth, protect their interests and create long-term value," Di Iorio said in a statement.
As managing partner of Miller Thomson's Vaughan branch, he expanded the office's service offering and bolstered its ranks of legal talent. In addition to his leadership roles within the firm, he also brings experience from his stint operating his own law firm before commencing with Miller Thomson in 2014.
"When we understand what drives our clients – whether they’re scaling, innovating, or navigating complex issues – we can deliver both sound legal and commercial advice to support real progress and move businesses forward," Di Iorio said. "That kind of insight is critical for a firm like ours that strives to be the business advisor of choice for mid-market businesses across Canada."
He praised predecessor Auvinen's leadership, which Di Iorio said "helped reinforce the firm’s national platform and sharpen its focus on talent and growth, and has built a strong foundation from which the firm can continue to build."
As a practitioner, Di Iorio focuses on real estate, commercial litigation, construction litigation, mergers and acquisitions, and transactions and leasing. He has tackled financings, governance and shareholder issues, corporate reorganizations, private client and estate and tax planning. He has appeared at all levels of Ontario court.
He was admitted to the Ontario Bar in 1995 and obtained his LL.B. from Osgoode Hall Law School. This year, he completed the “Leading Professional Service Firms” program at Harvard Business School.
