Joint Compliance Audit Committee – York Region – 2026 Municipal Elections

The lower tier municipalities of York Region are currently recruiting experienced professionals for appointment to the 2026 to 2030 Joint Compliance Audit Committee.

The Committee is an independent body required by the Municipal Elections Act, 1996, which considers and reviews applications to conduct an election campaign compliance audit, appoints an auditor and determines if legal proceedings will occur based on the auditor’s report.

Applicants with a professional background in accounting, auditing, law, election administration, or public administration are preferred. Applicants should have an understanding of municipal campaign finance provisions, demonstrate analytical, decision-making and excellent communication skills and have experience working with or as a member of government boards, task forces and/or quasi-judicial bodies.

Applicants must not be a candidate or have committed to providing professional advice for any candidate in the 2026 Municipal Election in any York Region municipality.

The term of the Committee will commence in 2026 and continue through to 2030. While Compliance Audit requests for the 2026 Municipal Election must be submitted in 2026, a by-election could result in the need for the Joint Compliance Audit Committee to sit during the remainder of the term of Council.

A retainer of $450 and $400 (including mileage) for attendance at a mandatory training session will be provided. Committee members will receive a per diem of $400 plus mileage for any official committee meetings they are required to attend. Applicants must have flexibility to attend meetings (daytime and evening).

The Committee’s Terms of Reference and on-line application form is available on the City of Richmond Hill’s website Richmondhill/JCAC, or can be obtained by contacting the Office of the Clerk by email at [email protected].

The application deadline is Tuesday, March 31, 2026 at 4:00 p.m.
