Lincoln Alexander School of Law appoints Jake Okechukwu Effoduh as assistant professor

Nigerian human rights lawyer, Jake Okechukwu Effoduh, has been appointed as a tenure-track assistant professor at Toronto Metropolitan University’s Lincoln Alexander School of Law.

According to The Guardian, Effoduh is a Vanier Scholar and Ph.D. candidate at York University’s Osgoode Hall Law School, and his research focuses on the impact of artificial intelligence legitimization on human rights advocacy in Africa. He previously held roles as chief counsel at the Africa-Canada Artificial Intelligence and Data Innovation Consortium (ACADIC), partner at Abuja’s Praxis and Gnosis law firm, and an advisory position on the World Economic Forum’s Global Future Council on Frontier Risks.

His has received fellowships at institutions such as the Harvard Library Innovation Lab, the University of Ottawa’s Centre for Law, Technology, and Society, the Nelson Mandela School of Public Governance, and Carnegie Mellon’s Center for Human Rights Science.

Effoduh also delivered lectures at institutions in South Africa, Germany, Spain, Canada, Nigeria, Kenya, and the United Kingdom.
